An independent repair service that comes to you
TrueFix Charlotte repairs household appliances in Charlotte and the towns around it, from Mooresville and Concord down to Rock Hill and Waxhaw. There is no shop counter to drop things off at; the work happens wherever the appliance is installed.
Older close-in houses
Bungalows and period homes where the kitchen and laundry were fitted into rooms built for something else, often with tight clearances.
Two-story suburban homes
Second-floor laundry rooms, where a dripping washer can mark the room underneath before anyone notices, plus garage fridges and freezers.
Apartments, condos & townhomes
Stacked and compact laundry, HOA rules, gate codes and elevator bookings. Tell us the building's process and we'll follow it.
Kitchens & businesses
Restaurant equipment, office break rooms and furnished rentals. Commercial work has its own page with the equipment lines we handle.
What we repair
12 kinds of appliance, from the refrigerator and range to the wine cooler and standalone ice maker. Pick one for the faults we look for and what a visit involves.
Refrigerator repair
A refrigerator never gets a day off. The compressor, the fans and the defrost system cycle around the clock, and in a Charlotte summer the condenser is pushing heat into a kitchen that may already be warm. When one part slows down, the others work harder to cover for it, so a warm fresh-food section or a puddle under the crisper is usually the first sign of a fault that started weeks earlier.
Washer repair
A washer has to fill, sense, agitate or tumble, drain and spin, and each step waits for the one before it to report success. That is why a blocked drain shows up as a machine that will not spin, and a lid lock that cannot confirm it is closed shows up as a machine that will not start. In two-story homes with upstairs laundry rooms, a slow leak matters more, because it ends up in the ceiling below.
Dryer repair
A dryer heats air, pulls it through the clothes and pushes it outdoors. When that air cannot leave freely, heat builds up, safety thermostats and fuses start cutting out, and loads take two or three cycles. Clearing lint and keeping the vent clear is a fire-safety job, not just an efficiency one. Charlotte has plenty of both gas and electric dryers, and their heat sources fail in different ways.
Dishwasher repair
A dishwasher fills to a measured level, heats and recirculates that water through the spray arms, then pumps it out and repeats. Most of what goes wrong is about water getting in, getting moved around, or getting out: a tired inlet valve, a clogged filter, a diverter that no longer feeds the upper arm, a drain path that backs up. Many European models dry by condensation rather than a heater, which changes what counts as normal.
Oven repair
An electric oven cycles bake and broil elements against a temperature sensor. Many gas ovens use a glowing igniter wired in series with the safety valve, and the valve stays shut until the igniter passes enough current. Either way, a weak part rarely fails all at once. The oven takes longer to preheat, bakes unevenly or drifts off temperature first, and that early drift is the time to have it checked.
Microwave repair
A microwave turns household power into high voltage to drive the magnetron, which is why the inside of the cabinet is off limits to owners even with the plug out: the high-voltage capacitor stores energy after power is removed. Over-the-range models add a vent fan, a light and a damper. Countertop units are often cheaper to replace than to fix, while built-in and over-the-range models usually justify a repair.
Freezer repair
Chest freezers and upright freezers fail in different ways. A chest model usually has no fan and no automatic defrost, so its problems tend to be the thermostat, the start components or a lid that no longer seals. A frost-free upright adds an evaporator fan, a defrost heater and a timer or board, and those are what stop it holding temperature. Many Charlotte freezers live in a garage, which adds summer heat and winter cold to the list.
Cooktop repair
Cooktops come in three technologies that share almost nothing. Gas burners depend on clean ports, a dry igniter and a good flame. Radiant glass tops hide ribbon elements below the ceramic surface, switched by infinite switches or a board. Induction heats the pan directly through a coil and power electronics that need cookware they can detect. The first job on any cooktop call is knowing which kind it is.
Ice Maker repair
A standalone ice machine is a refrigeration system and a plumbing system sharing one small cabinet. Water is pumped over a chilled plate or into molds, frozen, and released by a harvest cycle, then a bin sensor decides when to stop. Scale, biofilm and a dirty condenser cause more trouble than worn parts, and an undercounter machine built into a bar or an outdoor kitchen works hardest when the weather is hottest.
Wine Cooler repair
Wine coolers come in two very different builds. A compressor unit works like a small refrigerator and can hold cellar temperature in a warm room. A thermoelectric unit has no compressor at all: a solid-state module moves heat from inside to outside, and it can only pull the cabinet a limited number of degrees below the room around it. Knowing which one you own explains most of the complaints about it.
Stove repair
"Stove" usually means a freestanding cooker with burners on top and an oven below, and in older Charlotte kitchens some still run on a standing pilot instead of electronic ignition. The cooktop and oven share a cabinet and a power or gas supply but little else, so a fault in one half can leave the other working perfectly. A freestanding stove also needs its anti-tip bracket in place, which is a safety item, not an accessory.
Range repair
Freestanding or slide-in, a range puts the burners, the oven and usually a single control panel into one cabinet. Because so much shares one board, one terminal block or one gas regulator, a single fault can take out more than one function, while an unrelated fault can leave one half dead and the other fine. Sorting out which is which is most of the diagnosis.

Appliance overviewWhat you can expect from TrueFix Charlotte
The diagnosis comes before the price
Nobody quotes your repair from a description over the phone. The price follows the fault, once it has actually been found.
You approve the work first
The fault and its price are laid out for you, and the choice is yours. If the answer is no, nothing gets taken apart beyond the diagnosis.
A straight answer on repair or replace
Some machines aren't worth another part. When that's the case for yours, we'll say so instead of selling you the repair anyway.
Parts that match the model
Looked up by model number and sourced from the maker when we can. If it's an equivalent, we call it that.
Independent of every brand
No single manufacturer owns our time, so most makes are fair game. The flip side: anything with factory coverage left belongs with its maker first.

A few things to do before the visit
Find the model number
Check inside the door, the door frame, the back panel or behind the kick plate. A clear photo of the sticker works.
Stop a leak at the valve
If a washer, dishwasher or ice maker line is leaking, unplug the unit and close its water supply valve.
Smell gas? Get out first
Leave the house, then call your gas utility or 911 from outside. Don't flip switches on the way out.
Check the maker's coverage
Recent purchases may still have factory coverage. When they do, the maker should hear about it first.
Questions people ask before booking
Booking, the visit and the quote, answered briefly.
Ready to get it looked at?
The fault is found in your home, then priced for you.
We can't price a repair honestly until we know what failed, and one symptom might trace back to a small sensor or to a costly control board. So the technician diagnoses the appliance first, explains the fault, and gives you a price for that specific repair. Nothing gets replaced until you say yes.

Yes. Repairs come with a 90-day warranty on parts and 30-day warranty on labor, confirmed in writing with the repair. If something we fixed gives trouble within that period, get in touch and tell us what's happening.
No. We're independent, and no manufacturer has authorized us as its service agent. When a machine is young enough to have factory coverage left, call the maker before booking anyone, us included, so you don't pay for work they'd handle.
Ask us, and we'll answer plainly. Once the fault is known, the technician will tell you if the repair makes sense for that machine or if the money would be better put toward a replacement. You make the call either way.
We look parts up by your model number. Manufacturer parts go in whenever they can be had; if the right choice is an equivalent, you'll be told that before it's fitted.
Three things: who made it, the model number, and a sentence or two on the symptom. Look for the model sticker around the door opening, on the rear panel, or behind the bottom kick plate. Snapping a photo of it saves typing.
Yes. Gas ranges, cooktops and dryers are on our list alongside electric ones. A gas odor is a different matter: skip the hunt for the leak, get everyone out, and phone your gas utility or 911 from the yard or street.
Yes. Let us know about gate codes, parking, elevator reservations or any check-in your building or HOA requires, and we'll plan the visit around those rules.
